![]() At the start of the week internet services and media company AOL has released a handful of Beta updates for the company’s instant messaging client AIM. The beta updates I am talking about are AIM for Windows Mobile 2.0.9.1 Beta, AIM for Mac 2.0 Beta 1 and AIM 7.0.5.30 Beta 2 for Windows. All these Beta updates come with several new features, as you can see below. AIM for Windows Mobile 2.0.9.1 Beta highlights - Lifestream tab has been added to the Buddy List so that you can check out what’s going on with your contacts. With Lifestream you can do the following: get AIM activities like status updates, sync your AIM account with your Facebook or Twitter account for example, add YouTube or Delicious accounts to AIM, leave a comment like an item, read the comments your buddies made. - “Me” tab will let you when someone left you a comment. AOL Desktop Gold is the easy to use, all-in-one desktop you know and love with mail, browsing, search, content and now includes: Premium security features to help prevent your AOL account from being compromised and hacked. What Lifestream will do is display status updates, photos and comments your contacts left you. - “Me” view that displays your current Lifestream status; it also displays any posts that are directly linked to you. - The following have been moved to the new Search Toolbar in the Buddy List: away toggle, invisible toggle, group row color picker. - Consolidated mode selector meaning that al you need to do is click the “Running Man” drop-down menu and select your status (Away, Invisible, Available, etc). - Streamlined AIM registration that comes integrated with the AIM for Mac sign in window, meaning you can set up new screen names to use with AIM or AIM Mail. AIM 7.0.5.30 Beta 2 for Windows highlights - Lifestream - “Me” tab - AIM colors and themes just as all you Beta testers asked. - Saved Away Messages are back. - Buddy Info has been enhanced to include Lifestream. - Better conversation bubbles that let you select the modern or classic conversation mode.
